If so, then ExeterSOUP could help…
The aim of each meeting is to provide small charities/voluntary groups with an opportunity to fund raise relatively small amounts of money for self-contained projects.
It’s based on a project in Detroit which has been very successful. Everyone pays £5 on the door for soup and a bowl of salad (made by volunteers from donated produce), and four charities pitch their causes for 5 minutes each. At the end of the evening, the charity with the most votes goes home with the door money. The last event raised over £250 for the chosen charity, not bad for 5 minutes work.
Past pitches have included new garden furniture for a shared house for young adults with learning disabilities, gardening equipment for allotments used by refugees, facilities for adults coming to terms with brain damage following accidents.
So if you run a toddler group that needs some new play equipment, or want to provide some books and CDs for a local care home for the elderly, extra funds for a local theatre group or community music group – anything small scale and locally based which could do with a bit of extra cash – fill in the form on the website, and you can go on the list to pitch your idea at the next Exeter soup.
NEXT EVENT: 20th November 2015, 6.00 to 8.00pm, St Sidwells Centre, Exeter.
