Art Week Exeter Starts this Weekend

Many of you will remember our very successful SOUP back in November supporting Art Week Exeter. The time has flown by and Art Week Exeter 2017 starts on Saturday. I am incredibly excited to check out the work of SOUP winner Sophia Clist  with Stretch 2 and SOUP presenters Rebecca D Harris,  Clare Bryden and Martin Staniforth at their events.

This years Art Week Exeter  runs from the 13th to the 21st May 2017, full details of the weeks program can be found on the website http://www.artweekexeter.org.uk/.

SOUP winner Sophia Clist, along with Nick Burge, will be presenting Stretch in Venue 2 Exeter Cathedral from May 15th to 19th http://www.artweekexeter.org.uk/listings/stretch/. Stretch is an interactive artwork for all ages, a sound sculpture, a screen made of nearly eight miles of fine strands of elastic stretched across the nave of Exeter Cathedral. Look out for more Stretch events @sophiaclist on Twitter and https://www.facebook.com/sophia.clist

‘Storm in a B Cup: a story of breasts’ from SOUP presenter Rebecca D. Harris will be in Venue 48 Eva Studios showcasing a collection of artworks exploring, through craft, textiles, drawings and touches of humour, the complex story of female breasts. SOUP presenter Martin Staniforth (Morth) will be exhibiting the “Clarence Phoenix” on Cathedral Green having taken away 2 tonnes of burnt timbers left after the huge fire Exeter Cathedral Green in October 2016 which destroyed historic buildings, to build a ‘Hope & Renewal’ sculpture for the Cathedral Green in Art Week Exeter (May 13-21). Look out for more from Martin via @mstanifo on Twitter and on his website https://www.morth.co.uk/
